Health Exchange Notice

HEALTH CARE REFORM AND THE HEALTH CARE EXCHANGES

Emory University continues to provide medical benefits to employees working 20 or more hours per week. Our plans offer comprehensive medical coverage with a focus on preventive care. There are no limits on pre-existing conditions. Coverage through Emory will typically provide a greater value than coverage available through the new public health care exchange. The exchange is a marketplace for purchasing insurance, designed primarily for people who don't have coverage available through their employer.

If you are a benefits eligible Emory employee, you qualify for coverage through Emory that meets affordability and coverage standards under Health Care Reform. Benefits eligible employees do not qualify for federal subsidies to help with purchasing coverage through a health care exchange. If you purchase coverage through an exchange, you will pay the full premium cost of coverage. Emory pays the majority of the cost of medical coverage for the Emory plans.
