ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT (AD&D)

Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance provides coverage for non-job related accidental dismemberment or accidental death.

Emory Clinic provides AD&D insurance for all eligible members in the amount of $500,000. There is no cost to the member.

This insurance pays a benefit in the event of a loss of life; loss of the use of one or both arms, hands, or feet; or the loss of sight in one or both eyes. Loss of sight means legal blindness. One-half of the full benefit amount is payable for loss of the use of one arm, hand or foot or the loss of sight in one eye. The loss must be irrecoverable.

Eligible members may elect to purchase Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) coverage for dependents and pay the monthly cost through payroll deduction. The amount of AD&D insurance for your dependent is equal to a percentage of your AD&D insurance as follows:

In addition to the AD&D coverage referenced above, you may also enroll yourself, your spouse/SSDP and children for coverage through Emory University. Refer to Accidental Death & Dismemberment page on the main Benefits website for more information.
