Non-Resident Alien Guide
Prospective non-resident alien employee is contacted by hiring department and is sent a hiring packet
of documents to be completed and returned to the hiring department prior to arrival at Emory.
- Non-resident alien employee arrives at Emory.
- Non-resident alien employee attends ISSS Orientation Session.
Tuesdays at 3pm OR Thursdays at 9am
Suite 130 North Decatur Building
- Non-resident alien employee goes to Social Security Administration Office to apply for a Social Security Number (details provided at ISSS Orientation).
- Non-resident alien employee completes the Emory University Individual Residency Questionnaire from the Windstar Technologies
site and meets with the Non-Resident Alien Tax Specialist in the Controller's Office.
- Controller's Office notifies Human Resources Data Services of correct pay group and earnings code for the employee.
- Non-resident alien employee reports Social Security Number to Human Resources Data Services (404) 727-7563 and to Non-resident alien tax specialist in the Controller's Office.
- Non-resident alien enters required I-9 form documentation during Online Orientation and completes the I-9 process with a departmental representative within the first three days of hire.
