Emory celebrates National Walking Day the first Wednesday of April

National Walking Day 2017 is Wednesday, April 5th! This annual event is a call-to-action to increase physical activity by starting with a 30-minute walk during the workday to promote physical activity and well-being. This year’s theme is “Little Steps, Big Gains!”

Each year, Emory University and Emory Healthcare employees participate in organized walks on Emory’s campuses, joining thousands of others across the country who walk on this American Heart Association sponsored day.

What type of shoes should you bring?

Style: Athletic shoes are most versatile. Consider donating shoes used for running, cross training, basketball, soccer, etc. Avoid donating cleats, sandals, and heeled shoes.

Condition: Shoes are generally expected to be a little worn, dirty, and even stinky but still usable for the donation. As a general rule of thumb… “no holes in the soles.”

Brands: All major athletic brands are accepted!
