Tobacco-Free Emory Celebrates One Year
It’s been one year since Emory’s tobacco-free policy went into effect, prohibiting tobacco-use on all University and Emory Healthcare properties!  Since that time, the number of U.S. colleges and universities that have become tobacco-free has increased from 580 to 1,130, indicating a clear national trend.
While there still have been some instances of smoking occurring on Emory’s campuses, overall, the policy has been successful in decreasing tobacco-use campus-wide. Please continue to use “community enforcement” if you see individuals smoking on campus and remind them that Emory is now tobacco-free. And remember, Emory continues to offer tobacco cessation programs free of charge to faculty, staff, spouses and students.
