BPI Scholars - Now Accepting Applications
BPI is excited to be accepting applications for its second BPI Scholars class, which will start in September. BPI Scholars is a one-year professional development program for high-performing, early and mid-career Emory staff. Sponsored by their home unit, Scholars learn, develop, and apply project management, communication, analytical, and leadership skills. For their application, candidates must identify a practice improvement opportunity in their current units. This improvement project becomes the focus of their work as a Scholar.
During the year-long program, Scholars remain in their current roles, with participation in the program representing a commitment to benefit both themselves and their home units. The estimated time required of each Scholar for the duration of the program is four to eight hours per week, which will vary by week, above and beyond their regular job duties. In addition to working on their improvement projects, Scholars participate in coursework and attend a series of talks by Emory leadership on university management topics.
The inaugural Scholars class, which began in January 2014, has six participants, including Amelia Perszyk, who is an Assistant Clinical Administrator in the School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics. Ms. Perszyk had this to say about her Scholars experience:
"Being a part of the BPI Scholars program has been a huge asset to me both personally and professionally. In a time of having to do more with less, the BPI Scholars program is providing me with the tools, knowledge, and support I need to help my leaders make critical business decisions that will help us ensure our success both today and in the future."
