Cancer Treatment Centers of America No Longer Covered on Emory’s Medical Plans
Effective January 1, 2016, Emory’s medical plans will not cover care for services delivered by or at Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA). This change applies to both the POS and HSA plans.
This change means that if a covered member chooses to receive care at CTCA, the care will not be covered by the plan, and the member will not be reimbursed for any expenses incurred at a Cancer Treatment Centers of America facility.
Any plan members who are in a course of treatment at Cancer Treatment Centers of America that is expected to continue past January 1 will be eligible for continuation of care benefits until the course of treatment is complete. These expenses will be covered at the out of network level. If this applies to you, Aetna will contact you to arrange the continuation of care. You can also call Aetna at 800-847-9026 to confirm the process.
Emory is committed to ensuring that faculty, staff and family members have access to excellent care when diagnosed with cancer. Emory’s Winship Cancer Institute is Georgia’s first and only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center. Patients can contact Winship at 404-778-1900 and tell them you are an Emory employee. Cancer care is offered at four Emory Healthcare locations and Grady.
In addition, the Aetna national network includes many other cancer centers across the United States. Care at these facilities continues to be covered by Emory’s plans. To find out more about these facilities, contact Aetna at 800-847-9026.
