Holiday Heating Turndown
Emory has made an institutional commitment to reduce energy use by 25% per square foot by 2015 from 2005 levels. This holiday season there will be two four-day periods when, in the listed buildings, heating systems will be programmed to maintain a 50° F minimum set point to reduce energy, yet still protect building contents.

For buildings not listed, occupants can help by turning thermostats to 68° F which allows the system to minimize heating without going into the cooling mode. All building occupants are asked to turn off interior lights, computers, and other office equipment if you plan to leave for the holidays. Over the winter holidays last year, approximately $20,000 was saved by reducing energy use -- and even more can be saved this year with a broader effort.
