Move More Challenge Returns

Get ready to move more! The Move More Challenge is back this spring (March 25-May 5). The challenge will take place on the Healthy Emory Connect platform and you can use a variety of tracking devices (Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin, your smartphone, and more) to participate. Challenge participants will work in teams of up to 10 people to go on a virtual journey through 10 Emory destinations. Earn points and have a chance to win great prizes for your active participation. HR Launches New Website
HR is excited to announce the launch of our new website! Key changes include:

  • The new site is mobile friendly and features a more modern design with tiles, buttons and drop down menus

  • The site features our HR branding Emory + You

  • Several sites that formerly existed as separate sites are now included in the HR site (WorkLife, Learning and Organizational Development, Emory Temporary Services, Tobacco-Free Emory)

  • Most main navigational items remain the same: Benefits, Careers, Learning, Wellness, Work Life, and Resources. There is a new main nav button at the top called “Rewards” – under this you will find Compensation, Awards and Recognition Programs, Time Away (and holidays), and Discounts and Perks

  • Under Resources is where you’ll find HR Rep Resources, Manager Resources and Faculty and Staff Resources (these are also on our homepage as tiles, and on the footer of every page)

  • The Benefits main page has changed so that benefits are grouped by the category of employee type – Faculty Staff & Post Docs, Medical House Staff, Retirees, etc.

2019 Summer Internship Program
Emory’s Summer Internship program, facilitated by Human Resources, offers college students who are in the middle of their academic careers a unique opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of Emory University or Emory Healthcare. Designed to last ten weeks (June 3- August 9, 2019), with an option for departments to extend up to twelve weeks (August 23, 2019), each department will need to establish learning objectives for their selected intern and evaluate him/her twice during the program. Emory Continuing Education
Emory Continuing Education announces the following upcoming courses. Emory University faculty, staff, and alumni receive 10% off tuition using promo code EAGLE12.

  • Business Intelligence - This course introduces participants to the field of Business Intelligence (BI), with emphasis on descriptive analytics. The program employs applied training techniques with participants forming data analytics teams to solve business problems and identify solutions with practical applications. More experienced/advanced data professionals may opt for our advanced Big Data/Data Analytics program. Begins Saturday, April 20.

  • Applied Machine Learning and Data Science with Python - Participants will gain hands-on experience in the entire spectrum of data science: data collection, preprocessing, visualization, and -- most importantly -- in the application of machine learning algorithms for solving a wide variety of data-intensive problems. Begins Saturday, April 27.

  • Cybersecurity and Information Security - This program delivers broad coverage of the theory and practices of information security in an applied format. Course materials are delivered by practitioners and experts via lectures, discussions, lab sessions, and class projects. Key areas of coverage include system security analysis, threats and vulnerabilities, enterprise system monitoring, attack detection and defensive measures, malware behavior, risk and recovery management, cryptography, Internet of things (IoT), applications of artificial intelligence/machine learning and more. Begins Saturday, June 1.

  • Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning - Emory Continuing Education’s AI/DL curriculum -- designed for college graduates and working professionals -- focuses on practical applications and core concepts to prepare participants for real-world business problems and AI-related careers. The course blends theoretical elements and hands-on, problem-solving techniques in order to build a solid foundation in various AI, ML, and DL methodologies. Begins Saturday, June 22.

Mom’s Memory is Changing: Where Do I Go From Here?
As many as 5.7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s or some type of dementia.  Laura Medders, LCSW, will provide more information about dementia, the differences between Alzheimer's disease and other types of neurodegenerative diseases, and available treatments. Laura will also discuss resources in the Atlanta community and a unique clinic within the Emory system that strives to simplify and coordinate care, to provide increased access to experienced healthcare providers, and to provide high-quality care for people living with dementia.
