Cap Temporarily Removed on Vacation Leave Accruals for Staff
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, HR is temporarily removing the cap on the maximum vacation hours that staff members can accrue. Vacation leave will no longer be capped at 40 days (320 hours). This change is effective April 1, 2020 for monthly paid employees and March 22, 2020 for bi-weekly paid employees. This temporary policy change will continue until the social distancing period is over. Once operations return to normal, we will make a determination on when the leave must be used. There are no changes to the maximum payout of vacation leave upon termination, which remains at 30 days (240 hours).

Professional Development
During this period of social distancing and stay at home orders, you can use the time to concentrate on your personal and professional development. Use these resources to acquire new knowledge and skills through virtual learning.

Internal Resourcing Program
If you have a current need for additional staffing help, Human Resources has developed an internal resource plan to help redeploy university employees who have the current capacity to assist departments during this period. The program goal is to effectively manage current resources with available time, assist any areas with gaps of need, leverage EMORY knowledge, keep our talent force engaged, and be fiscally responsible with hiring decisions during this time.

This program is currently only open to those employees who are working remotely and who are not currently performing essential functions. If you have a need for additional staffing help, or if you have someone with extra time to offer, please contact the HR leader in your department or school to inquire more about this program.
