Proposed Changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) is proposing significant changes to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The purpose of the FLSA is to establish minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping and youth employment standards affecting most full-time and part-time workers. The DOL proposed changes would increase the minimum pay requirement needed for an employee to qualify for the exemption from overtime to $50,440 (up from $23,660). This change could impact close to 1,000 Emory University employees, transitioning them from exempt status to non-exempt status. Read more. |

Changes to Same Sex Domestic Partner (SSDP) Benefits Coverage Policy
In light of the June 26, 2015 ruling of the United States Supreme Court giving same-sex couples the fundamental right to marry in all states, Emory University has made the decision to alter the policy addressing benefits to same-sex domestic partners (SSDPs) and their dependents. This decision comes as the result of many months of research, benchmarking with other universities, and discussions with Emory’s leadership and faculty, as well as members of the LGBTQ community. Clifton Road Improvement Project
Beginning this summer (mid to late June), Clifton Road from North Decatur to Haygood Road will undergo a significant streetscape overhaul, including a complete re-grading, resurfacing and widening of the road. Additionally, a new right turn lane will be added at Clifton and North Decatur and there are also plans for a new pedestrian bridge, a bike lane, and new sidewalks and landscaping. While the benefits of these projects will be many, there will be periodic lane closures during the day to accommodate the work. More details will be forthcoming. |

This policy supports the consistent, efficient, and comprehensive management, retention, and disposition of records created, received, and retained by Emory University and Emory Healthcare.
