Emerging Leaders at Emory Graduation Held
The Emerging Leaders at Emory graduation was held on October 10, 2016 at Miller Ward House. This is the second cohort to graduate from this new leadership development program, which is intended to develop mid-level leaders who are considered as having high-potential to move to more strategic and broader roles/responsibilities. The program goals are to strengthen leadership performance across the university, develop skill sets, develop mind set, and to establish a leadership pipeline for succession planning.

BPI Scholars Program Applications Available
The office of Business Practice Improvement (BPI) University Consulting will enroll its fourth class of BPI Scholars in January 2017. Applications for the January 2017 BPI Scholars cohort are available now and are due November 4, 2016. BPI Scholars is a one-year professional development program in which high-performing, early and mid-career Emory staff learn and develop project management, communication, analytical, and leadership skills. The program runs from January 2017 to December 2017. Read more. |

Great American Smokeout is Thursday, November 17th
The American Cancer Society started this national event to encourage tobacco cessation by establishing an official quit day. Emory will be celebrating the Great American Smokeout (GASO) by encouraging all employees to be even healthier by spreading the word of our tobacco cessation programs and resources, online tobacco education webinars and highlighting employee support/words of motivation. Faculty and Staff Invited to Join Emory Cares
On November 12, the Emory community is invited to join with alumni and friends around the world for Emory Cares International Service Day, a signature program of the Emory Alumni Association. In partnership with Volunteer Emory and Volunteer Oxford and co-sponsored by the Emory WorkLife Resource Center, this annual service event has increased its volunteer participation each year since it was founded in 2003. Emory Police Department Offering Safe Driving Classes for Parents and Teens
P.R.I.D.E. is a free, two-hour course designed to help parents and their new teen drivers. The program seeks to reduce the high number of crashes, injuries and fatalities involving teen drivers in the state of Georgia.

Crime Prevention Month and Fire Safety Week
Join Emory Fire Safety, Emory Police and other departments as they provide safety information for Fire Safety Week and Crime Prevention Month on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm, on the Coca-Cola Commons. They will be giving away smoke detectors and fire extinguishers to early attendees! They were a big hit in previous years, so come early because they go quickly. Office of Multicultural Programs Social
On Wednesday, November 2, 2016, there will be a social for students, alumni, faculty, and Emory Campus Life staff of color from 5:30 - 7:30 pm in the Math & Science Center Atrium. This event is intended to serve as an opportunity for people of color at Emory to connect with one another and strengthen relationships within and across various communities, identities, and positions in the university. Presented by the Office of Multicultural Programs, this semi-structured event is the first of what will hopefully manifest into a series of annual gatherings that create and add to the tradition of acknowledging, honoring, and celebrating the experiences, contributions, and lives of people of color at Emory. |
