Winter Recess 2019
Emory University closes most academic and administrative offices for Winter Recess, the three days between the Christmas and New Year holidays. The intent of Winter Recess is to provide a time for many faculty and staff to relax and refresh at the end of the year, in recognition of their hard work, dedication and commitment. 2019 Winter Recess days are December 26, 27 and 30, 2019. These three Winter Recess days are not holidays but are provided in addition to the scheduled University holidays of Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve Observed), 25 (Christmas Day Observed), 31 (New Year’s Eve Observed), 2019, and Jan. 1, (New Year’s Day), 2020. New Healthy Emory Connect Program Year
A new program year has started on Healthy Emory Connect, Emory’s one-stop-shop for employee health and wellbeing. There are new fun and easy ways to earn points toward your 2020 Emory medical plan incentives! Hundreds of new videos are now available from Whil including yoga, mindfulness, resilience and other wellbeing titles. New online coaching programs, Journeys, offer a variety of topics in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, stress management, sleep, weight management and more! Emory Community Giving
Emory Community Giving, the employee charitable giving program of Emory University and Emory Healthcare, offers employees several exciting ways to help more than 500 worthy nonprofit groups address an array of health, human-service, community, and environmental needs. Emory Subsidy for Fitbit Devices to Sunset
On December 31, 2019, Emory’s subsidy for Fitbit devices will end for current employees. Starting in 2020 Emory will subsidize Fitbit devices for new hires only. Employees hired between July 1, 2019 and December 31, 2019 will be grandfathered into this new-hire group.  Emory’s Friends and Family storefront will remain open and provides Emory employees with the opportunity to purchase up to two devices annually at a special friends and family rate. If you have not purchased a subsidized device between September 1, 2018 and now, you can still use your one-time subsidy through December 31, 2019. Learn more.

What Is Your Baby Thinking?
Have you ever wondered how your child grows? How your baby learns about the world? What and how do children think and remember? How do they change as they get older and move from one developmental stage to the next? We would like to find out and you and your child can help!

You and your children are invited to participate in fun and engaging studies that will help us to understand their social and cognitive development. If you have a curious little tot at home in this age range, or any age between 3 months and 10 years, sign up to participate at the Emory Child Study Center. Participation involves a one-time visit to the Emory Campus and lasts less than an hour. Your child’s participation will take about 15 minutes and they will be with you the entire duration. We have both weekday and weekend appointments available and provide free parking and childcare for any siblings who wish to tag along. Your child will receive a participation gift and is sure to have a good time!

Help Students Get REAL
Need to hire a graduate student for a public health or health-related project? Don’t have much in your hiring budget? What if we told you that you could hire a competent and eager RSPH student for only $6.75/hour? That’s right! Through The Rollins Earn and Learn (REAL) Program, students are paid $13.50/hour and can earn up to $2,500 a semester. You pay 50% and Rollins School of Public Health pays the other 50% of the student’s salary. The Rollins Earn and Learn (REAL) Program, provides students the opportunity to apply the skills they have learned in the classroom while also providing Emory partners with highly qualified and motivated employees. Students can help you with projects including needs assessment; program evaluation; training and curriculum development; health communication and campaigns; program planning, development and implementation; survey design; community development; research and analysis; policy development and more.
