Machine Readable Files from Aetna and Kaiser Permanente

In November 2020, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Department of Labor, and Department of the Treasury issued the Transparency in Coverage Rule. Based on Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements, it requires the posting of machine-readable files (MRFs) that list in-network rates and out-of-network allowed amounts on a publicly available website by July 1, 2022:

Premium Assistance Under Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

If you or your children are eligible for Medicaid or CHIP and you are eligible for health coverage from Emory, the State of Georgia may have a premium assistance program that can help pay for coverage. States use funds from Medicaid or CHIP programs to help those who are eligible for these programs, but also have access to health insurance through an employer.

Healthcare Exchange Notice

Emory University continues to provide medical benefits to employees working 20 or more hours per week. Our plans offer comprehensive medical coverage with a focus on preventive care. There are no limits on pre-existing conditions.

Coverage through Emory will typically provide a greater value than coverage available through a public health care exchange. The exchange is a marketplace for purchasing insurance, designed primarily for people who don't have coverage available through their employer.

If you are a benefits-eligible Emory employee, you qualify for coverage through Emory that meets affordability and coverage standards under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Benefits-eligible employees do not qualify for federal subsidies to help with purchasing coverage through a health care exchange. If you purchase coverage through an exchange, you will pay the full premium cost of coverage. Emory pays the majority of the cost of medical coverage for the Emory plans.
