Tobacco Cessation
Because tobacco use is one of the leading preventable causes of death, Emory has taken steps to significantly decrease smoking and tobacco use on our campuses.
Helping you quit
To support our community members in their efforts to give up using tobacco, Emory offers several cessation programs and resources, many of which are accessible to both employees and their spouses. If you are ready to quit for good, Emory can help.
Tobacco Free Emory
In 2012, Emory adopted a tobacco-free environment policy, prohibiting smoking and tobacco use on all Emory University and Emory Healthcare properties. The policy includes vaping, pipes, chewing tobacco, hookahs, and e-cigarettes. Learn more about the policy and how it is being enforced on campus.
Tobacco Use Surcharge
Emory requires tobacco users to pay a $50 surcharge per month on their medical plan to support a culture of health and well-being and to discourage tobacco use. The surcharge also includes covered spouses, so if both you and your spouse use tobacco, you’ll pay an extra $100 per month.
