National Bike to Work Day May 18th
To encourage more people to bike to work, Emory and the CDC are co-sponsoring National Bike to Work Day on May 18, 2012.
“We really want to generate more interest in biking to work and doing so safely,” says Jamie Smith, Director of Bike Emory. “One of our goals is to bolster the bike culture at Emory by giving commuters and opportunity to meet and to provide a means for people to safely try riding to work.”
On the morning of National Bike to Work Day, an energizer station will be provided at the turn-around circle at Cox Hall from 7:30-9:00am. Participants can also receive free refreshments (coffee, juice, bagels and fruit), bike repairs, free rear safety lights and more. In addition, Emory and the CDC are organizing groups of riders from various locations across the city and the metro area.
Bike Emory is a partnership between Emory University, Fuji Bikes and local partner Bicycle South. This exclusive partnership allows Bike Emory to provide Emory cyclists with excellent discounts on Fuji bicycles, bike service at two on-campus Mobile Repair Centers, a Bike Share Rental program and much more.
Bike Emory was created to reduce the barriers facing cyclists and potential cyclists in the Emory area. Whether you bike to work for fitness or fun, Bike Emory wants the Emory area to be a more enjoyable and safer place to ride a bike. For more information, visit: http://bike.emory.edu.
