$1,000 at Stake: Are You Watching Your Watts?
Don't forget! We are more than halfway through Emory's annual October Energy Competition! This is your building's chance to win $1,000 for a sustainability-related prize. One winner will selected from each building category (residential, research, and administrative/classroom) based on the greatest energy reduction per square foot compared to last October.
Congratulations to last year's winners: Goizueta Business School, School of Medicine's James B. Williams Building, and Woodruff Residential Center. Who will take the prize this year?
Emory has an ambitious goal to reduce energy consumption by 25 percent per square foot by 2015 based on 2005 levels. To reach this ambitious goal, we need widespread participation from all members of the Emory community.
With the month more than half-over, it is time to encourage your co-workers and push for an energy-efficient end of the month! Here are a few energy saving ideas:
Take the stairs instead of the elevator (good for you and the environment!)
-Unplug all chargers when not in use
-Take the time to identify excess lighting, and utilize only the lights that are necessary
-Turn off the lights when you leave a room for longer than two minutes
-Got a fume hood? Lower your sash!
