New Child Care Resources for COVID-19
While child care options have been limited since the COVID-19 pandemic began, some centers and summer camps have begun to open. Child care resources have been posted to the HR Website’s Working Through COVID-19 page. In addition to centers and camps, there are also resources for in-home care, homeschooling, tutoring and virtual programs. View Child Care Resources. |

Child Care Survey
The University Senate Task Force on Dependent Care has partnered with Human Resources to ask you about your present child care needs. We are conducting a short survey that asks about which options are of interest to our faculty, staff and students who are parents. The information will help us focus our efforts to find resources that may help. Check your email inbox for a link to this survey which was sent by the University Task Force on July 27. Responses are due July 31. |

Early Voting and Emory Voting Policy update
Early voting for the Georgia primary runoff is July 20-August 7. In response to the difficulties that many voters experienced in the June primary, Emory now allows staff up to 4 hours of paid time off for voting, either during the early-voting period or on the Election Day itself. Preparing to Work and Parent Through a COVID Kind of School Year
There are a lot of uncertainties for everyone as we prepare for the 2020-21 school year. As a parent, it is especially difficult to know how to plan for this year. While we all want to see children return to in-person classrooms, we know that the reality is that many students will at least begin their school year virtually. Parents really need to do what they can to plan for all scenarios: In-person, Remote Learning, and a Hybrid of both plans. We are likely to see one or all these scenarios play out throughout this school year. The saying, “It takes a village to raise a child” is especially true right now. We have compiled some tips to help parents prepare for these different scenarios and help them manage remote work and school under one roof once again. This is part 1 of a 3-part series. New Supervisory Series
Learning and Organizational Development, in partnership with the Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) and Work Life, has launched a new Supervisory Series. The series consists of short, interactive Zoom sessions that provide tips and tools for a variety of relevant topics from managing remote teams to cultivating resilience and much more! Supervisors can register for the sessions in the ELMS. Most sessions are between 30 minutes and 1 hour. View courses.

FSA Special Enrollment
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IRS has made some changes to Healthcare Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). These changes allow you to enroll in an FSA or make changes to your existing FSA during a special enrollment period (July 1, 2020 through October 31, 2020). Additionally, with the passing of the CARES Act, FSA funds can now be used for over-the-counter medications without a prescription. Learn more. |

Blomeyer has gone VIRTUAL! Check out the options we’ve created for you to keep your mind energized and your body moving! Enjoy LIVE 30-minute daily workouts that can be done at home with little to no equipment. These workouts are modeled after your favorite class formats, taught by Blomeyer staff. The classes will be live streamed via Zoom. Learn more. |

Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
Are you concerned about developing diabetes? Diabetes can often be prevented or managed through physical activity, diet, and weight management. Emory has a variety of programs and services to help you prevent or manage diabetes.
Emory’s Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is a one-year, small group program that teaches you how to eat healthy, increase your physical activity and manage your stress in order to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. Emory has made a lasting commitment to the health and wellness of our faculty and staff and is pleased to be offering this supportive program to Emory employees at no charge.
To be eligible for the program, you must:
- Have a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or greater (for Asian Americans, 23 or greater), AND
- Have prediabetes diagnosed by a blood test, OR
- Have history of gestational diabetes, OR
- Screen positive for prediabetes using the American Diabetes Association risk test

Learning and Organizational Development announces general enrollment classes which will take place June – August 2020. All sessions are virtual or online. Virtual courses will be offered via Zoom. Recordings of Performance Management Courses Now Available
The year-end performance reviews will be due soon and this year has been particularly challenging for many due to COVID-19. New guidelines, behavior examples, and job aides have been created to make the process easier this year. New competencies were also unveiled this year for senior level leaders. Materials can be found on the PM website. If you were unable to attend one of the Performance Management Training sessions, the recorded Zoom sessions have been uploaded into ELMS:
