Lactation Support Policy Revised
Emory recently revised its Lactation Support Policy. Supervisors are now required to provide break time for employees to express breast milk for a nursing child, and these employees must have access to a private place that is not a bathroom. Emory has lactation rooms across campus for nursing, but it’s important to understand that supervisors should be as accommodating as possible. If it’s more convenient for a mother to use a spare room close by rather than an official “lactation room,” she should be able to do so. Note that many lactation rooms may also be used for other physical/medical needs, such as insulin shots for diabetics.
