Great American Smokeout November 21
The 2013 Great American Smokeout is Thursday, November 21! If you are ready to quit smoking, the American Cancer Society encourages you to plan ahead and use the date as your official “Quit Day.” FSAP will be offering tips, support and activities throughout the month of November, which is Lung Health Awareness Month. Inclement Weather Policy
As we head into the winter months, please be reminded that Emory has an Inclement Weather Policy. In the event of life-threatening weather conditions, the Provost may deem it necessary to close Emory or delay reporting times. Those determined to be essential and whose work requires them to be present on campus should prepare in advance. The list of essential positions should be reviewed with your Dean or Vice President by November 1 each year to help ensure consistent standards. Read more. |

New Emory Policy: Non-Retaliation
Emory has long been committed to providing a safe environment in which its employees feel comfortable reporting concerns about compliance issues or potentially unethical behavior. Retaliation against reporters of wrongdoing is prohibited by Emory, and non-retaliation statements are present in various Emory policies. To solidify its commitment to a safe environment for reporters, Emory now has a general non-retaliation policy. The policy reiterates Emory’s stance regarding retaliation against employees who, in good faith, report perceived wrongdoing or who cooperate with an investigation of alleged wrongdoing. |

Theology Degrees Now Available for Wide Range of Professionals
Candler School of Theology is launching two new master degree programs in spring 2014 for medical and legal experts, church leaders, and other professionals who seek to enhance their work through theological education. The Master of Religion and Public Life provides a deeper understanding for those negotiating faith-based matters in healthcare, social work, law, education, and other public spheres. The Master of Religious Leadership is for people in Christian service who want to improve their leadership potential. It offers five concentrations: Mission, Evangelism, and World Christianity; Justice, Peacebuilding, and Conflict Transformation; Pastoral Care; Ministries with Youth; and Worship and Music. New BPI Scholars Program Accepting Applications
The Office of Business Practice Improvement is excited to announce a new professional development program, BPI Scholars, a one-year professional development program for high-performing, early and mid-career Emory staff. Applications are due November 30; classes start January 2014. Learn more. |

Goizueta Announces Recipients of Dean’s Scholarship for Talented Leaders
The Goizueta Business School announces the recipients of the first annual Dean’s Scholarship for Talented Leaders. Congratulations to Dr. Javed Butler, MD, MPH (School of Medicine) and Stacy Johnson (Department of Biomedical Informatics). This $10,000 scholarship is awarded to employees who have been identified by their leadership as top performers and have been admitted to the Executive MBA program through the standard application process.
