Preventive Cancer Screenings

mammogramPreventive screenings are an important part of maintaining your health and well-being. Many preventive screenings have been recognized as a cost-effective way to identify and treat potential health problems before they develop or worsen. Getting your preventive cancer screenings will increase the chances of detecting certain cancers early, when treatment is likely to work best. Screening tests may find breast, cervical, and colorectal (colon) cancers early enough to cure these diseases with treatment.

The American Cancer Society recommends these preventive cancer screening guidelines for most adults. Because of your family history or other factors, you may need to be screened more often or using different methods. Be sure to talk with your doctor about your history.

Remember that preventive care is covered at 100% in your Emory medical plan which means you don’t have to pay to get a screening. See preventive care list.
