Theology Degrees Now Available for Wide Range of Professionals
Candler School of Theology is launching two new master degree programs in spring 2014 designed for doctors, nurses, lawyers, music directors, youth ministers, peacemakers, and other professionals who seek to enhance their work with a theological education.
The Master of Religion and Public Life (MRPL) provides a deeper understanding and framework for those encountering faith-based matters in their chosen profession. With an MRPL, says Candler Dean Jan Love, professionals in medical, legal, and other fields can improve their understanding of religion in light of the growing religious diversity in the United States, an awareness that will help them navigate the religious dimensions of their work more easily and productively.
The Master of Religious Leadership (MRL) is for those who are the forefront of the church’s work and offers five concentrations to help them improve their leadership skills in their preferred area of focus: Mission, Evangelism, and World Christianity; Justice, Peacebuilding, and Conflict Transformation; Pastoral Care; Ministries with Youth; and Worship and Music.
"We’re looking forward to welcoming new communities of the Christian faithful to Candler,” says Love, “particularly the engaging dialogues and wealth of perspectives that will enrich our student body."
