Performance Management Training
for Non-Manager Employees
Emory University is transitioning to a new process for performance management for 2014. This involves new competencies, rating scale, and online performance evaluation forms. To prepare Emory employees for these new changes, HR’s Learning and Organizational Development Department is offering several instructor-led classes for non-manager employees in March and April. Last Chance Health Screening at Cox Hall
If you haven’t yet “learned your numbers,” don’t miss this one last opportunity for a free, on campus screening on Thursday, March 13, Cox Hall, 3rd Floor Ballroom, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. The screening only takes about 15 minutes and will measure your blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, and body mass index (BMI). No fasting is necessary.
Note: the registration system will close 24 hours in advance of the screening date and time. A limited number of walk-ins will also be accepted on a first-come/first-serve basis. |

Taking the Online Health Assessment
In order to get an incentive on your medical plan for 2014, you need to complete BOTH a health screening AND Aetna’s online health assessment. And remember, your spouse/same sex partner can also receive an incentive! HSA Plan: $200 credit to your health savings account (HSA); $100 for spouse/partner. POS Plan: $200 contribution toward your deductible and/or coinsurance; $100 for spouse/partner.

2014 Summer Internship Program
The annual Summer Internship Program is back again for 2014. This program is intended to provide students and departments with an exchange of service, training and valuable work experience. The internship period is for ten weeks (June 2- August 8), with an option for departments to extend up to twelve weeks (August 22). Each department will need to establish learning objectives for their selected intern, and evaluate him/her twice during the program. The deadline to submit a requisition request for an intern is March 28.

Walking Group Starts Back Up March 18
Offered by the Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), Emory's outdoor walking groups are a safe, fun way to add activity to your day while socializing with coworkers and making new friends. The "Meet Me at Lullwater" group meets every Tuesday, for 6 weeks starting on March 18, 12:15 pm. Walk at your own pace, individually, or with a group. Meet at the gates to Lullwater Preserve, 1463 Clifton Road. All fitness levels are welcome. Register for the Walking Group. |

Emory will once again recognize the American Heart Association's National Walking Day--a national call-to-action to walk for 30 minutes during the workday to promote physical activity. Join one of the many group walks on campus (locations/times will be announced soon) or gather a group of coworkers from your location to walk on April 2nd! |

Emory Healthcare Tunnel Makeover Promotes Daily Walking
If you’ve traveled through the underground tunnel connecting Emory University Hospital (EUH) and the Center for Rehabilitation Medicine (CRM) recently, you may have noticed some colorful changes to its appearance. New Georgia-themed murals now decorate the hallways and are designed to encourage walking there. Read more. |

Upcoming Workshops on “Behavioral Health Treatment of African Americans: Individuals, Children and Families”
Dr. Nancy Boyd-Franklin, Ph.D., a Distinguished Professor at Rutgers University and a nationally and internationally recognized lecturer, scholar, and practitioner will be presenting two workshops related to the behavioral health treatment of African American clients. She will highlight her research, framework for clinical engagement of individuals, children and families, as well as strategies for cross-cultural treatment.
