Breast Cancer Awareness Month
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is celebrating over 25 years of awareness, empowerment, and education this October. Dedicated to the prevention, detection, and comprehensive treatment of breast health issues and breast cancer, the Emory Breast Center, the Winship Cancer Institute and Emory’s Center for Women are hosting a wide variety of events all month long around the metro-area. Some highlights include:
The Emory Breast Center is offering a free clinical breast exam for Emory employees, October 11, East Clinic 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. – Sur Onc event – Dr. Toncred Styblo
Extended hours for Screening Mammograms will also be offered on both campuses (standard rates apply).
MOT campus – Oct. 15, 22 Saturday mammograms; hours 8:00 am to 2:30 pm
Winship campus – Oct. 17, 19, 20 extended hours until 7:00pm
Join Jane Mashburn, CNM, MN, FACNM, clinical associate professor and Masters in Nursing program director at Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, in an open discussion about breast health on Wednesday, October 19. 12pm-1pm, Dobbs University Center, Room 363. Learn risk factors for breast cancer, the breast cancer screening process, and primary prevention strategies. Bring your lunch and bring a friend!
Get out there and be active for a great cause! The first annual 5K Winship Run will be held on October 15 at Emory University's McDonough Field.
