Emergency Back-up Care
Sign up for emergency back-up care so your child care or adult care needs are covered when your regular arrangements fall through.
Emergency Back-Up Care
The Back-Up Care Advantage Program is offered through a partnership with Bright Horizons. Open to benefits eligible faculty and staff, and to students of the Laney Graduate School, this program provides emergency back-up care for times when your regular caregiving arrangements fall through.
In these situations, Bright Horizons will arrange for temporary care, either at a high-quality child care center or with a fully screened and credentialed in-home caregiver.
- Care is available for infants through the elderly.
- It is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- It is nationwide.
- The cost is partially subsidized by the university to make it more affordable.
The Back-Up Care Advantage Program can only be used for emergency caregiving situations, such as when your regular sitter calls in sick or when your center is closed. It isn't to be used for anticipated caregiving needs.
The program provides 10 days of emergency care per calendar year.
The cost to you is $15 per child per day with a maximum of $25 per family per day for center-based child care and $8 per hour for in-home child or adult care. Center-based child care is primarily used for the care of well pre-school age children. In-home care is used for all mildly ill-children and adults as well as school aged children in general.
Reservations for care can be made up to 8 days in advance. Employees cannot reserve more than three consecutive days in row.
How do I register?
