Faculty physicians working in academic medicine encounter unique challenges. FSAP provides a variety of free, confidential services designed to enhance the professional growth and personal well-being of Emory University's physicians.

Physician Coaching

Coaching can help you achieve professional goals, increase work effectiveness, and enhance career satisfaction.

Coaching targets common physician professional concerns including work-life integration, communication enhancement, emotional intelligence, leadership development, cultural transitions, and professionalism.

Behavioral Mental Health Services

Behavioral mental health services assist with addressing common physician well-being concerns impacting overall health such as burnout, stress, family concerns, anxiety, depression, and substance abuse.

Services include:

  • assessment
  • individual and couples therapy
  • family and parental consultations
  • 24-hour on call services
  • provision of external treatment referrals
  • fitness for duty screenings
  • coordination of Georgia Professionals Health Program's (Georgia PHP, Inc.) referrals and monitoring

Leader Consultations

Consultations assist with managing faculty or resident concerns and organizational issues. We offer:

  • Consultations with School of Medicine (SOM) physician leaders to assist with faculty well-being or performance, fitness for duty concerns, and organizational issues, as well as referrals to FSAP.
  • Consultations with Graduate Medical Education (GME) program directors to assist with resident/fellow concerns and referrals to FSAP.

  • Workshops: Offered for departments and divisions on topics such as burnout prevention, enhancing resilience, and emotional intelligence.

Critical Incident Response Services

Faculty group debriefings can assist with traumatic events such as death of a colleague or an incident of violence at a clinical site.

Team Dynamics
