Eligibility to Retire
To retire from Emory University, you must meet the following conditions:

- have at least 10 years of eligible service of at least 20 hours or more
- sum of your age and service must equal 75 years or more
- no breaks in service longer than 12 months or 24 months if due to a reduction in force
- be in a regular paid status (or retire from disability leave of absence, if eligible)
The retirement date can be any day of the month as mutually agreed upon by you and your department.
You are encouraged to contact the Benefits and Work Life Department at least three months in advance of a pending retirement to allow your Benefits Specialist sufficient time to confirm your eligibility to retire and prepare your retirement packet and arrange for a final meeting.
