PrudentMed® Program
The PrudentMed® program helps Emory employees and their family members save money on certain expensive medications. If you have the Aetna POS (Point of Service) plan and take specialty infusion medications, this program provides financial support to lower out-of-pocket costs — with no change to your doctor, medication, or pharmacy.
Program Overview & Eligibility
What is the PrudentMed® program?
PrudentMed® is run by the parent company PrudentRx in collaboration with Aetna. It connects eligible Emory employees and their covered family members with financial assistance programs offered by drug manufacturers. These programs help pay for high-cost specialty infusion medications.
PrudentRx works directly with your provider to handle the required paperwork — so the process happens behind the scenes. In some cases, you may need to provide the Release of Information (ROI) form that you received in the mail to your provider in order for them to work with PrudentRx.
For medications covered by PrudentMed®, enrolled members will pay $0 out-of-pocket. The cost of the medication (covered by the drug manufacturer) will not count towards your out-of-pocket maximums or deductibles. The member will still be responsible for reaching their deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums applicable with other services or medications.
Who can use this program?
Only members enrolled in the Aetna POS (Point of Service) health plan can participate. If you are on the Aetna HSA plan or the Kaiser Health Plan, you are not eligible for this program.
When does this program begin?
Beginning May 1, 2026, Emory will work with PrudentRx to help eligible members access manufacturer financial assistance for specialty infusion medications given by their healthcare provider.
Will my doctor, medication or pharmacy change?
No. You will keep the same doctor, the same medication and the same pharmacy or provider (unless otherwise noted for reasons unrelated to the PrudentMed® Program). The only thing that changes is how the cost share is funded — it works entirely behind the scenes.
- Only specialty infusion medication on the PrudentMed Drug List are included.
- This list may be updated periodically:
- If a drug is removed from the list, the medication cost-share will go back to your regular plan design outside of PrudentMed®.
- If a medication is added to the list, the parent company PrudentRx will let you know that you are eligible for copay assistance.
What are the steps to enrollment?
- Identification - Aetna reviews claims data to find members who take eligible medications.
- Notification - If you are eligible, PrudentRx will call you to explain the PrudentMed® program and the financial assistance available. You will also get an introductory letter by mail.
- Enrollment opens May 1, 2026 - Eligible members will receive a Welcome Letter by mail. You should call the PrudentMed® Contact Center at 1-855-476-4118 within 5 days to complete enrollment. If this does not happen, PrudentRx will try calling you up to three times to assist you with enrollment.
- Enrollment - Once you connect with PrudentRx, an Enrollment Coordinator will sign you up for PrudentMed®, the manufacturer financial assistance program.
- If you cannot be reached - If PrudentRx is unable to reach you, Aetna will make additional attempts to contact you. Then, a final notice will be sent by mail. If there is still no response, you will be removed from the program and will be responsible for the full cost of your medication. You can opt back in at any time by calling the PrudentMed® Contact Center at 1-855-476-4118.
