Reduction in Force
Periodically it becomes necessary to eliminate regular staff positions to meet organizational needs. When this occurs, Emory strives to handle these matters in a systematic and consistent manner. Employee Relations can guide the department in conducting an analysis and developing a reorganization and/or reduction in force plan.
Reduction in Force
When the possibility of reducing the workforce is identified, Human Resources and the Office of the General Counsel must be consulted early in the planning stages. This contact should be made prior to the identification of particular individuals who will be impacted by a reorganization or reduction in force. All decisions should be based on careful analysis of the workforce needs, financial resources and available options.
The Reduction in Force Justification Form should be completed and submitted to Human Resources for review.
