Aimee Moynihan, 25 Years
Tell us about your career at Emory.

Aimee is the senior associate director of programs with the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics.
I've spent my entire career in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, starting on a federally funded grant supporting nurse practitioner training in Title X Family Planning Clinics across the Southeast. After 10 years, I transitioned into my current role as GYNOB residency program manager.
What are some of your favorite memories of your time at Emory?
Some of my favorite memories involve working with our residents during their orientation; seeing them arrive full of excitement and nerves, then growing into confident, capable physicians over four years. Graduation day is always a highlight!
What are some of the most significant changes you have witnessed over the course of your career?
COVID-19 brought major challenges, especially around scheduling and maintaining trainee safety. Another major shift came after the flood at Grady, which disrupted labor and delivery operations and required quick adaptation in both patient care and residency training.
Aimee dressed up for the leadership team theme at the 2021 GYNOB Resident Annual Retreat.
Is there anything you miss from "back in the day"?
I don’t so much as miss things, but more amazement at how far we've come. I often find myself thinking, “Can you believe we used to do it that way?” I really enjoy being part of the process of improving and streamlining our work.
Anything else you would like to share?
Working in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics has been incredibly fulfilling. The strong sense of camaraderie and support truly makes it feel like an extended family.
