Janice is the business operations specialist for the Office of Enrollment Services at Oxford College.

During my 25 years at Oxford College of Emory, I’ve been affiliated with two departments. For the first decade, I worked under the leadership of Academic Affairs. In the more recent years, I've been with the Office of Enrollment Services. Throughout my career, I’ve always worked in the Registrar’s Office, supporting students from the time they are admitted until they graduate and go on to become productive members of society.

What are some of your favorite memories of your time at Emory?

My favorite memories involve events that bring together faculty, staff, and students. I vividly remember participating in a focus group that included members from all three groups—an experience that ultimately inspired me to complete my own education. I’ve also enjoyed taking fitness classes with colleagues and students, promoting wellness within our community. Any opportunity where we can gather and share experiences is special to me. It’s those shared moments that create lasting memories with both students and peers.

What are some of the most significant changes you have witnessed over the course of your career?

The most significant change has undoubtedly been the advancement of technology. It has revolutionized processes that once took weeks to complete. For example, evaluating transcripts for graduation eligibility used to be a lengthy task—but now, with tools like the degree tracker, it can be done in seconds. Creating class schedules and assigning classrooms used to require hours of manual work and coordination; now, it’s accomplished with just a few clicks. We once used reams of paper for revised class rosters, and now it’s all digital. It's truly amazing how technology has improved so many functions.

Is there anything you miss from "back in the day"?

I really miss the social events on the quad. I believe they were called “Coffee on the Quad.” (I didn’t drink coffee, but I’d grab a cup of water and a pastry!) It was a great way to meet people and put faces to names. I didn’t attend every time, but those gatherings gave me a chance to connect with students, staff, and faculty. Those were some truly good “back in the day” moments.

What do you hope for the future of Emory?

I hope that Emory continues to lead in research and remains a place that inspires and transforms brilliant minds while helping students seek knowledge, truth, and understanding.
