Tonya Woolcock, 25 Years
Tell us about your career at Emory.

Tonya is an administrative assistant in the Biology Department at Emory College.
I have spent my entire career at Emory in the Department of Biology, and it has been an incredible experience. I have had the chance to work with so many amazing faculty, staff, and students over the years. The people, the work, and the community have made a lasting impact on me both professionally and personally. I am proud to have been part of such a supportive and inspiring environment for 25 years.
What are some of your favorite memories of your time at Emory?
Some of my favorite memories come from volunteering at graduation ceremonies. Celebrating students as they reach such an important milestone is always uplifting. I have also loved welcoming new students during orientation, cheering them on as they began their journeys at Emory. Being part of those meaningful transitions has been both inspiring and deeply rewarding.
What are some of the most significant changes you have witnessed over the course of your career?
One of the most significant changes I have seen is the incredible growth of the university. Emory has expanded in so many ways; academically, physically, and in its national reputation. It has been exciting to see new buildings rise, new programs take shape, and the campus community grow more vibrant and diverse. Being part of that evolution has been both exciting and fulfilling.

Is there anything you miss from back in the day?
I miss the simpler, more close-knit feeling of the early years. With growth has come change, and while much of that is positive, I sometimes miss the smaller, more familiar environment where it felt like you knew everyone across campus.
What do you hope for the future of Emory?
My hope is that Emory continues to grow and evolve, embracing innovation and new opportunities while staying true to its core values. I hope the university maintains its strong commitment to excellence in education, research, and service, ensuring that students, faculty, and staff continue to thrive. By doing so, Emory can keep making a meaningful impact both locally and globally for years to come.
Anything else you would like to share?
I simply want to express how much I truly enjoy working at Emory. It is a fantastic place to build a career, and I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have had along the way.
