Yasmin Ali, 30 Years
Tell us about your career at Emory.

Yasmin works as a pre-award manager for Research Administration Services in the School of Medicine.
I started as a work study student in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in 1993, and officially began full time the day after I graduated in 1995. I worked in that department for six years before moving to the School of Nursing Dean’s office as a senior financial analyst. In 2010, I joined the School of Medicine Department of Surgery and was then absorbed into Research Administration Services in 2015.
What are some of your favorite memories of your time at Emory?
I have many memories, but one favorite was the Christmas parties in the Department of Microbiology. The graduate students would prepare skits, often poking fun at their faculty mentors’ personality quirks. They were always a lot of fun.
What are some of the most significant changes you have witnessed over the course of your career?
The campus has changed so much that it hardly resembles the place I first came to as a student. Many buildings I remember are gone. I have also experienced several changes in computer systems and am about to go through another one soon.

What do you hope for the future of Emory?
I simply hope for the best.
Anything else you would like to share?
I will probably be filling this out again in ten years.
