Debbie Copeland, 25 years
Procurement Specialist
Campus Services
Tell us a little about the work you’ve done at Emory throughout your career.
I started working in Building & Residential Services within Campus Services in 1998. In 2001, I accepted a job in the same department as a Materials Handler. After several years in that role, I started purchasing and became a Purchasing Assistant for Building Services and other Campus Services departments. Then in 2012, my title changed to Procurement Specialist.
What are some of your favorite memories of your time at Emory?
My favorite memories were the celebrations and parties we used to have in Campus Services, especially the Christmas party. We used to do a talent show at the Christmas party and everyone would laugh and have a good time! I also loved seeing people who I hadn’t seen in a while at these events.
Is there anything you miss from “back in the day”?
I miss the people that are no longer here who I worked with over the years, in the various departments I worked in.
What do you hope for the future of Emory?
I hope we can recognize employees for everything they do, not just big things but the small stuff too! It goes a long way to help the morale of everyone.
